Most people are still focused on summer fun right now, but if you’re in the retail or eCommerce world, it’s prime time for holiday planning. That’s why Internet Retailer dedicated half of its August issue to a “Handbook for the Holidays.” The special section wrapped up data and insights from dozens of e-retailers and industry experts, providing insight and advice on the biggest challenges their peers will likely face while planning for peak.
Topics covered ranged from Thanksgiving and Cyber Monday planning, to staffing, mobile shopping, marketing and some of Newgistics’ biggest strengths: site performance, fulfillment planning and post season returns.
To help lend a little expertise for these articles, Newgistics – and a couple of our customers – talked to Internet Retailer.
Decker’s Brands knows a little something about planning and meeting demand for peak shopping periods. As Internet Retailer points out, its Ugg brand of boots has been near or at the top of the most searched-for gift items list since 2012. Decker’s senior operations manager for eCommerce, Jesse Carstens, talked to Internet Retailer about working with Newgistics to create a better returns process for customers.
Holiday Planning includes the “right way” to test a site and the importance of doing so against conditions that will closely simulate the actual peak period. He talked about things like pre-printed return labels in every package to make the experience as easy as possible, and how Newgistics helps Deckers credit customers for their returns more quickly. \
Newgistics’ vice president of network strategy, Alexi Takvorian, provided some insight for the story too, talking about how the company helps to guide retailers though peak periods with planning up front, followed by daily or weekly calls during the holiday season.
Chris Andrasick, Newgistics’ chief strategy and innovation officer, shared his knowledge and experience for the article on site performance. He talked about the right way to test a site and the importance of doing so against conditions that will closely simulate the actual peak period – something that can surprisingly be overlooked.
In addition, ghd shared details on its experience working with Newgistics’ Tacit Knowledge to make sure its site performs as intended under peak load.
